Lost/Damaged Books
It is the policy of the IKM-Manning CSD to have lost or damaged books replaced. Either a new copy of the book, or the amount it will cost the school to replace the book is expected by the end of the school year. If a book is returned with damage a letter will be sent home with the student explaining the fine. The file attached below is an example of the letter to be sent home.

Checkouts
Elementary Checkout Information
Elementary students will visit the library once a week for checkout and a library lesson. Preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students may checkout 1 book at a time. Students must return a book to checkout a new book each week. Second and third grade students may checkout 2 books each week.
Middle School Checkout Information
Fourth grade students may checkout 3 books. Fourth grade students visit the library once a week for checkout and a library lesson. They must checkout at least one chapter book within their 3 books.
Fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students may have up to 3 books checked out. These students can checkout books during study hall or if they are given a pass to the library anytime during the day.
High School Checkout Information
High School students may checkout 3 books at a time, unless instructed by a teacher and need more. Students can checkout books during study hall or if they are given a pass to the library anytime during the day.

Overdue Books
There is no charge for overdue books. Overdue notices are sent out periodically to help students bring books back to the library. If any books are not returned by the end of the school year they will be marked as lost and a fine will be charged.
Donations
Donations of books in good condition and that meet the district's Selection Policy will be accepted. Ms Stohlmeyer will return (if possible) or distribute any books that do not meet these expectations.
